The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church is a Christian fellowship driven by care and compassion. We are committed to serving communities through extensive charitable activity.
Locally, the Church’s congregation is drawn from areas around Luton, Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard. We have been part of the local community for more than 130 years and have been familiarly known as the Brethren for much of our wider 200-year history.
In Bedfordshire, the Church has a long-established record of supporting local communities, particularly through the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), an international charity powered by volunteers from the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.
Most recently, volunteers from RRT Biggleswade and RRT Luton supported the emergency services following the tragic rail incident near Elstow, south of Bedford, in June 2026. Throughout the night, volunteers served hot meals and refreshments to police, fire and ambulance crews working at the scene before returning the following morning to provide breakfast for responders continuing their work.
This is just one example of the charity’s ongoing commitment to the local community. Other support has included hosting a Luton & Dunstable International Nurses Day lunch, delivering food boxes, sleeping bags and snack packs to homelessness charity NOAH during the festive period, supporting a coast-to-coast charity cycle ride for the construction industry, assisting emergency services responding to major incidents, and much more.
